Starting December 17, 2024, China will ease its transit visa exemption policy. The maximum stay for foreign travelers on a transit visa exemption will be extended from 72 and 144 hours to 240 hours (10 days). In addition, 21 more entry and exit points will be added for those eligible for the transit visa exemption, and the areas where they can stay and move around will be expanded. Citizens from 54 countries, including Russia, Brazil, the UK, the US, and Canada, who are passing through China on their way to a third country or region, can now enter China visa-free at any of 60 open ports of entry in 24 provinces, regions, and cities, and stay within the designated areas for up to 240 hours.
